HOUSEHOLD INVENTORY WORKSHEET

Even at the calmest of moments, it is quite an accomplishment to recall all of the contents of any room in the house. Just imagine how difficult it will be to remember all the contents of your house after a fire, theft, or other calamity. Yet that is exactly what you will be asked to do when you submit a claim on your insurance. That is why a household inventory worksheet comes in handy.
We have made a convenient household inventory list that you can print out. Go through your home and list the items in each room that you feel are of some value. When you have your list of items and figured their value, go over your property again and record the serial numbers wherever possible. Take photos of items as clothes, jewellery, collections, antiques, art, etcetera.
In the case of a fire or catastrophic event, your inventory list will do you no good if it destroyed in the fire, so keep a copy of it stored somewhere safe--like a safety deposit box at a bank, together with your pictures, copies of bills, receipts, and other documents that justify the figures in your claim.
Hopefully, you'll never have to use your inventory list, but if worst comes to worst, and you have to deal with a calamity, you'll be happy you took the time to make a permanent record of all your possessions.
